3 Rules to Win Every Day
For many people, January starts with ambitious goals. π
But by February, things start slipping. π¬
In this article, we'll have a look at 3 simple rules to win every day and stay consistent throughout the year.
So let's get started! ππ
The 3 Rules to Win Every Day
- Choose who you want to be, not outcomes.
- Make it tiny so it works on bad days.
- Never miss twice.
That is the whole engine. π
Let's dive into each one.
Rule 1: Choose Who You Want To Be
Pick three areas that matter to you right now, for example:
- Energy (or health)
- Work (or school)
- Love (family and friends)
Write one short sentence for each area. Make it about the kind of person you aspire to be:
- Energy: I am joyful and I fuel my body well.
- Work: I am grateful and I focus on what matters most.
- Love: I am kind, playful, and fully present.
Do not chase far-away outcomes. Choose who you aspire to be.
When life changes, our actions can change too, but our intention stays the same.
Rule 2: Make It Tiny
Design actions that survive messy days.
We hope for the best π€ but plan for the worst. πͺ
Use this rule: make it as tiny as possible.
Examples:
- 1 burpee instead of 100.
- 10 second cold shower instead of βI will master ice baths.β
- Appreciate one person instead of βbe a perfect partner.β
When Tuesday is perfect, do more. When Thursday is messy, do the minimum and still win.
Even on the toughest day, we can still do 1 burpee, take a 10 second cold shower and appreciate one person.
That is how we keep going. πͺ
Rule 3: Never Miss Twice
Prediction: you will miss a day. π
Everyone does. That is normal. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to come back if you miss a day. πͺ
Use this rule: never miss twice.
If you miss today, you come back tomorrow. No guilt. No drama. Just return. Say to yourself: βI missed. I learned. I am back today.β
Focus on the behavior, not perfection. Showing up builds identity.
Suddenly you become the person who does the thing.
And everything starts changing...
Use a Simple Daily Checklist
Keep it short. Keep it clear. Keep it winnable.
Nothing fancy needed. Just a piece of paper is fine:
Energy
- 1 burpee
- 10 seconds cold shower
- 1 minute of meditation in the morning
- 1 minute of meditation in the evening
- 7 hours of bed time
- 5,000 steps
Work
- Move the number one task first
- Learn for 5 minutes
- Before closing the laptop, write tomorrowβs number one task
Love
- Appreciate one person or one thing
- Be present for 1 minute without phone
You can do more if you want but the minimum is the win. πͺ
If you do 100 burpees, that's amazing. But if you can only do 1, that's fine too. Just do 1 burpee. Boom. Done. β
Why This Works
Small action β quick win β better story about yourself β do it again.
This loop is powerful.
Each round makes your new identity stronger. πͺ
Soon, the minimum feels easy.
Often youβll do more.
And if you donβt, you still win the day. π
This isnβt luck.
Itβs you designing your future self. π¦ΈββοΈ
Itβs you designing your future. π«
See Your Future Self
Close your eyes and picture it. π§ββοΈ
Your energy is steady. π
Your work feels focused. π―
Your relationships are warm. β€οΈ
You became the version of you that shows up. π¦ΈββοΈ
You did it! π
You did not climb a mountain in one jump.
You took small steps, every day.
That is the secret. πͺ
Now picture the version of you that didn't do it.
Your energy is low. πͺ«
Your work feels overwhelming. π©
Your relationships are cold. π₯Ά
You didn't show up. π’
Your mind thinks of excuses but your heart knows the truth. π
The good news is that it doesn't have to be that way.
You can choose today: who do you want to become?
